First of all... we've decided to use Apple to host our pictures now.
You can find them here... http://gallery.me.com/jamesrharker
So on to the stories. We start with a picture from last year... Isabella was fascinated by the Swedish flag soaring overhead on Ansi and Johan's flagpole. She was so fascinated the Ansi brought the flag down and wrapped Isabella in it.
This year, the flag continued to be of great interest... But not just looking at it. Isabella was got pretty good at saying the work 'flagga'.. Swedish for flag! Remember you can click on any of the pictures to make them bigger.
The weather the last week was wonderful... we were very lucky because Stockholm had a pretty rainy August after we left. The pool was part of the daily routine... here is 'Alice' the next door neighbors dog getting a little sip of water.
The prodigal son return... we had the most wonderful visit Karl (Ansi and Johan's son) and Jessica. This was Karl's first time seeing Isabella. The two of them instantly bonded and had a ton of fun with each other. You can see more pictures on the picture site.
But Isabella really loved Jessica... especially because she brought Isabella such a pretty dress! Here is: Jessica, Ansi, Karl, Isabella, Johan
We got to see a lot of Frida and Ola the last week... Ansi and Johan have their wedding anniversary the day before us. We were supposed to take them out to dinner for their anniversary. Frida and Ola were to baby sit. The reservations were made, we were all showered (nothing to take for granted :-) and were dressed up for the night. Isabella had been sleeping perfectly for days.... You guessed it, not that night. Absolutely refused to go to bed. After 90 minutes of crying ... we tried every trick in the book... we finally gave up and ordered pizzas. Off with the fancy cloths, open a beer and wait for the pizza. 5 minutes after we ordered the pizza Isabella went to sleep and slept a perfect night... Go figure!
We got to see Bibbi and Leffe, Jessica's parents. Fredrica, after a few drinks once called them Biffe... not to be confused with an out house, which we've had a few laughs over. Here we're having lunch at our favorite vegetarian restuarant in Stockholm. We dragged Leffe, generally a carnivore. He was a good sport, claimed to have thoroughly enjoyed the food and made himself quite useful... chasing off the enormous seagulls that liked to 'help' the customers finish their lunch if they left their table.
The next day we got to go out to "Biffe's" house... about an hour south of Stockholm (although it felt like two!). Their house was amazing. Leffe built the house with his own hands! They truly inspired us with all that they grew. This is just one of their plots. Here they are growing potato, carrots, beets, lettuce. They have a cellar to keep their root vegetables... they grow enough pototos to eat for the entire year! There were many berry bushes and Isabella got so excited that she could go around picking and eating berries... Red currants, strawberries and tons of rasparies. It was so much fun.
After this visit we drove out to see Helen... we thought we were in the boon dock with Biffe... wow, after another 45 minutes of driving we were really the country. It was a really nice visit.
Well... three week in Stockholm was such a treat. Ansi was so sad to see Isabella go (us too I think). They sure had a lot of fun time together.
Everyday Isabella and Johan trudged off into the forest to find pine cones... it was so much fun for the two of them. Isabella now seems to be an expert and picking up everything... trash, berries, butts..Thank you Ansi and Johan... we love you!
