We have to admit that we kind of expected baby Noah to make an early entrance since his sister did but as Christmas and New Years rolled around and Fredrica did not show any signs of labor approaching we started to wonder. Fredrica was extremely uncomfortable not sleeping very well and dealing with small but painful contractions. Because of Bella having low amio fluids Fredrica had been going to non-stress test twice a week all December. Last Thursday (the 30th) we went in for our normal non-stress test. All looked great! Since we were at our 39th week, our doctor said they'd want to induce if we didn't have the baby within a week.
We decided on Sunday... both because it our favorite doctor, Renee Nelson, was on call and because Jessica and Grandma would be available to help with Bella during the day and over night.
With that decision made... we knew we had just a couple more days before we would have our baby boy coming into the world. We wanted to focus those last few days on family time... really focusing on fun things with Bella.
The night before, mom and Bella baked cookies for the nurses... we got this hint when we had Bella... have treats in the room, it gives the nurses a good excuse to drop by :-)
On Friday... it was time for an overdue haircut. A girl needs to look good you know, she is going to have lots of pictures take of her with her new baby brother.
... And what a difference. Bella looks great with short hair. Annie turned us on to a place near us that just does kids haircuts. What a find! The whole environment is setup for kids. They are given a box of small toys on their lap during their haircut... smart!
On New Years Day we went over to Sea World. Bella discovered ice skating and thought it was a blast. It is more like walking on ice at this age. But she loves it and her balance is great! We walked around so much at Sea World mom was having pretty regular contractions. Until we got home and rested we were not sure whether we were going to make it to Sunday!
By coincidence we ran into our neighbors Edgar and Sophie. Bella and Sophie are close in age and have a lot of fun together. Edgar was a much better skater than Dad so we all learned a few things :-) Sophie is going to be a big sister to soon as her mom is due one week after us.
We also had some rain that week between Christmas and New Years. So what do you do to make a energized 4 year old on a rainy day? You take them bowling. It was Bella's first time and boy did she have a great time. They make it very easy for kids to play by adding some shields to the side to the balls won't go into the gutter and gave a special holder to put her bowling ball on to make it easier to roll it. I don't ever remember these as a kid.
I admit I was really proud and excited to take her bowling. Mom came along too... she was supposed to stay at home and she said "Hey wait a minute... I've never seen an American Bowling Alley... I'm coming!"

Bella had to find a ball that matched her outfit... so fashionable!

Well... its Saturday night and tomorrow is the big day. We are to report to the hospital at 7:00am on Sunday. Jessica is coming at 6:30. We set our alarms for 6 and almost overslept our big day! A bug with the iPhones cause our alarms not to go off! People all over missed planes, were late for work, etc... glad we didn't have one of those stories!!!It was a little hard for both of us getting to sleep on Saturday. The house was quiet, a storm was coming in and we had a lot of anticipation. Maybe a mix of excitement like when you were a kid the night before Christmas mixed with that anxiety you feel when you have to go to sleep but you can't... and we knew we wouldn't be sleeping a lot soon!
But we finally drifted off... and we luckily woke up... and Jessica arrived... Fredrica ate a good breakfast, knowing she couldn't eat again until the baby was out (with Bella we had an OB appointment just before lunch and she was starved and we ended up being asked to go over to the hospital and we went on to have Bella... Fredrica knew a good breakfast was key!)
